Recap: Jasper Eagles vs. Appleton City Bulldogs
This season hasn't been kind to The Jasper Eagles, who are still winless after their ninth match. They had to suffer through a rough 56-8 loss at the hands of Appleton City. While losing is never fun, Jasper can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Appleton City is ranked eighth).
Cash Anderson went supernova for Appleton City, rushing for 249 yards and six touchdowns on only nine carries. Garrett Davis got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Jasper's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Archie and 7-2 Lockwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Appleton City, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Jasper will head out on the road to face off against Greenfield at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Appleton City will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Drexel/Miami at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
