Basketball Game Preview: Maxwell Bears vs. Roy/Mosquero Blue/Lady Blue

The Maxwell Bears will head out to face off against the Roy/Mosquero Blue/Lady Blue at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Maxwell sitting on 14 straight wins and Roy/Mosquero on eight.

Maxwell will head into Saturday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 39) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Springer 71-68. 71 seems to be a good number for the Bears as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roy/Mosquero). They breezed by Wagon Mound to the tune of 73-39 on Friday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Blue/Lady Blue had established a 29 point advantage.

Maxwell pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 45.3 points. As for Roy/Mosquero, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Maxwell came up short against Roy/Mosquero in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 40-30. Can Maxwell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
