Recap: Concord Academy Eagles vs. Westminster Catawba Christian Indians
If the Concord Academy Eagles were riding high off their 83-39 takedown of the Hickory Grove Christian Lions last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Concord Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 63-62 to Westminster Catawba Christian. Concord Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westminster Catawba Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Concord Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ian Howard, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Lincoln Raper was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Concord Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will face off against SouthLake Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Metrolina Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metrolina Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 273rd in North Carolina, while Westminster Catawba Christian is ranked 80th in South Carolina).
