Baseball Recap: Randolph Southern Comes Up Short

Randolph Southern extended their losing streak to 15 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Hancock Royals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rebels of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Randolph Southern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Allen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Allen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

As for Eastern Hancock, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Eastern Hancock's side, Gavin Jenkins made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jenkins was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Caleb Retherford was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Wittgren, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Randolph Southern will take on Union City at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will square off against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
