St. Bernard Prep's win ends four-game losing streak on the road

Recap: St. Bernard Prep Saints vs. Victory Christian Lions

The St. Bernard Prep Saints fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Victory Christian with a 53-48 win on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for St. Bernard Prep, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Haley Hendrix and Amelia Haney certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hendrix dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds, while Haney scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The matchup was Hendrix's 14th in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Victory Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

St. Bernard Prep's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7. As for Victory Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Bernard Prep will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Meek at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Victory Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Coosa Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
