Mitchell hasn't had much luck against The Classical Academy recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Marauders will welcome the Titans at 11:00 a.m. Mitchell has given up an average of 17.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mitchell lost 22-1 to Elizabeth on Thursday.
Mitchell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Ogilvie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, The Classical Academy won against Falcon on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Falcons 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.
Ezekiel Kimmig made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Kimmig was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Mediavilla, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of The Classical Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Chase Rorabaugh, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
The Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mitchell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
