Basketball Preview: Covington Buccs vs. Miami East Vikings
Covington has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Miami East Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Covington earned a 45-35 victory over the Pirates. Given Covington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Pirates are ranked 549th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Miami East put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Bethel 53-14 at home. Miami East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 24 points or more this season.
Miami East's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mckayah Musselman, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Francis, who scored seven points along with five assists and three steals.
Covington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. As for Miami East, their victory bumped their record up to 21-0.
