Football Preview: Castle View Sabercats vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars
The Castle View Sabercats will take on the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Castle View is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 38 points back in October, they were much more limited against Mountain Vista last Friday. They were outmatched by the Golden Eagles at home and fell 49-7. That makes it the first time this season the Sabercats have let down their home crowd.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Cherokee Trail made sure to put some points up on the board against Smoky Hill last Thursday. Cherokee Trail simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Smoky Hill 41-0. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Brian Cusack was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. Tyson Smith was another key player, throwing for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Cherokee Trail didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Logan Posey and Mateo Garreffa. Garreffa has been hot , having also posted five or more total tackles the last eight times he's played.
Cherokee Trail's record now sits at 4-6. As for Castle View, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.
