League recap: Johnson overpowering for Vanguard in past week

6A District 5 league recap: 3/8/13

Stephen Johnson was the best pitcher in 6A District 5 this week, leading Vanguard. He racked up 16 strike outs this week.

Dakota Spivey was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .583 average with five RBIs. Lake Weir compiled a record of 2-1 in that time.

The Hurricanes' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 32 hits and 12 walks, both of which led the league.

There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Dakota Spivey, who collected seven hits in 12 at bats for a .583 average.

The most RBI in the league this week belonged to Lake Weir's Spivey, who drove in five. Spivey has 12 RBIs this season, second in the league.



Bryan Prevatte struck out 12 in the Hurricanes' 13-6 win over Leesburg on March 1. Over seven innings of work, he gave up 11 hits and six runs.
