Basketball Game Preview: Highland Hornets vs. St. Pius X Sartans

The Highland Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the St. Pius X Sartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Highland sitting on three straight wins and St. Pius X on eight.

On Wednesday, Highland didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Valencia, but they still walked away with a 48-43 victory.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X earned a 46-36 win over Valencia on Friday. Given the Sartans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Jaguars are ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Pius X pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Highland, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Highland came up short against St. Pius X when the teams last played on February 4th, falling 53-47. Can Highland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
