Basketball Recap: O'Fallon Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the O'Fallon Panthers were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to the Mt. Vernon Rams.

Mt. Vernon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marlin Price led the charge by going 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six boards. Those 14 points gave Price a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

O'Fallon's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Mt. Vernon, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the O'Fallon Panthers challenge the Cardinal Ritter College Prep Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will square off against Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Vernon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
