Basketball Recap: Virginia High Comes Up Short

After flying high against Richlands on Friday, Virginia High came back down to earth. The Virginia High Bearcats took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Wise Warriors on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 49-47 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Virginia High's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Central Wise, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Virginia High and Central Wise should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Virginia High will take on Lebanon at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 149 places (74 vs. 223). Virginia High will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Central Wise (ranked 71st) will meet Ridgeview (ranked 261st) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
