Recap: Eastlake Titans vs. Otay Ranch Mustangs
The Eastlake Titans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-14 victory over Otay Ranch. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Eastlake was the better team in the second half.
The critical scores for Eastlake came from Caleb Addleman and Kingston Schaaf.
Eastlake's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Schaaf and his two sacks.
Eastlake's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Otay Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Eastlake will head out on the road to face off against Mater Dei Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mater Dei Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eastlake in California (Mater Dei Catholic is ranked 104th, while Eastlake is ranked 294th). As for Otay Ranch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonita Vista and Otay Ranch are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
