Basketball Game Preview: Petaluma Trojans vs. San Marin Mustangs

The Petaluma Trojans will take on the San Marin Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Petaluma is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Petaluma came up short against Justin-Siena and fell 43-31.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Marin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Novato by a score of 54-41 on Thursday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Hornets are ranked 811th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Marin's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-12. As for Petaluma, their loss dropped their record down to 2-23.

Petaluma was able to grind out a solid victory over San Marin in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, winning 61-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Petaluma since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
