Basketball Recap: Ellsworth Comes Up Short

Ellsworth was the 57-45 winner over Spooner when they last played one another back in February of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Ellsworth Panthers took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spooner Rails on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Rails are ranked 411th).

Ellsworth's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Spooner, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Spooner, they will challenge Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
