Recap: Centennial Hawks vs. Alamogordo Tigers
The Centennial Hawks won against the Alamogordo Tigers last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Centennial blew past Alamogordo 42-21. Winning may never get old, but Centennial sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Zaiden Davis was on fire: he rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes. Davis' longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Christian Ortiz also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Centennial's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Cole Alons and his three sacks.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Audette, who rushed for 131 yards while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
Centennial's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Alamogordo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Centennial will be playing at home against Las Cruces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Las Cruces is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Alamogordo, they will head out on the road to face off against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Organ Mountain comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
