Zain Valdivia gave up the fewest walks he has since back in March on Tuesday. He was dialed in as he struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Considering he played a big game the last time he faced off against Palm Springs back in March, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Valdivia has become a key player for Xavier Prep: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-12 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Valdivia and Xavier Prep will welcome La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 277 places lower in California), but they're not letting that get them down.
