Deming extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-15. They came up short against the Silver Slvr Ftg Colts, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Slvr Ftg Colts this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Thursday.
Kaylee McMillan was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Silver, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.
On Silver's side, Jaelynn Cardenas was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cardenas was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Vanessa Lucero was incredible, firing off three home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Kenia Nieto was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Deming will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Teresa at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Silver, they will square off against West Las Vegas at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
