Baseball Recap: Mooresville Find Success

Mooresville hadn't done well against Hickory Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mooresville came out on top in a nail-biter against Hickory Ridge, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Ragin' Bulls last Tuesday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Southern Smith-Tilley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Luke Modrak was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Mooresville: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Barber, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Mooresville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hickory Ridge, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.

Mooresville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-4 win against Cox Mill on the 25th. As for Hickory Ridge, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-5 defeat against A.L. Brown on the 25th.
