Basketball Recap: Newman Falls Despite Big Games from Payton Foster and Randy Livingston Jr

Newman was the 46-25 winner over Metairie Park Country Day when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Newman Greenies came up short against the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns on Friday, falling 62-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Greenies have suffered against the Cajuns since March 1, 2019.

Newman's loss came despite strong showings from Randy Livingston Jr and Payton Foster. Livingston Jr posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Foster almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. Livingston Jr is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 14 games he's played.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Metairie Park Country Day, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-8.
