Basketball Recap: Center Grove Has No Trouble Against Martinsville

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Center Grove on Tuesday. They blew past the Martinsville Artesians 54-29. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Ava Grant, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc on her way to 35 points. What's more, she also racked up two steals, the most she's had since back in January. Emerson Vlcan was another key player, putting up nine points.

Martinsville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jade Meade, who posted five points. Another player making a difference was Layla Mallery, who put up four points and three steals.

Center Grove's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Martinsville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Center Grove will venture away from home to challenge Whiteland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Whiteland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Martinsville, they will head out on the road to square off against Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
