Basketball Recap: Alcuin Takes a Loss

Alcuin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the First Baptist Saints 87-28. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.

When it comes to explaining why Alcuin lost, don't look at Spencer Smith. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points.

Jett Stamps was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points along with five assists and five steals for First Baptist. That's the most steals Stamps has posted since back in December of 2024. Dylan Jones was another key player, going 9 of 17 on his way to 24 points and four steals.

Alcuin's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for First Baptist, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Alcuin Hawks challenge the Ovilla Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ovilla Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Alcuin surely won't give up without a fight. As for First Baptist, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Garland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. First Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.4 points per game this season.
