Recap: Hoopa Valley Warriors vs. Arcata Tigers
The Hoopa Valley Warriors fell victim to the Arcata Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 33-0 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hoopa Valley in their matchups with Arcata: they've now lost four in a row.
Arcata found their leader in underclassman Luke Lemke, who rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Lemke's longest rush was for an incredible 92 yards. Cole Vanden plas was another key contributor, throwing for 296 yards and a touchdown.
Hoopa Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Arcata, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoopa Valley will face off against McKinleyville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McKinleyville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Arcata, they will head out on the road to face off against Ferndale at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ferndale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
