Antioch is a perfect 10-0 against Round Lake since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Sequoits will be playing at home against the Panthers at 4:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Antioch barely beat Vernon Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sequoits blew past the Cougars 11-1 on Saturday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 5, 2016, but that streak is no more.
Antioch got a great performance from Jack Majerowski as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Majerowski posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Evan Schmidt was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Yeager, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Round Lake). They walked away with an 11-8 win over Waukegan on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
The team relied heavily on Christopher Villareal, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Ryan Cabral was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Antioch's victory bumped their record up to 19-10-1. As for Round Lake, their win bumped their record up to 5-18.
Round Lake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Antioch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for Round Lake, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Antioch's hitters?
Antioch took their victory against Round Lake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Sequoits have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
