Baseball Game Preview: Circleville Tigers vs. Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies

The Circleville Tigers will face off against the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Circleville's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Johnstown-Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Circleville is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lancaster just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Gales.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Johnstown-Monroe ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Fredericktown.

Braeden Archibald was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Johnstown-Monroe got a big performance out of Carter Holbrook, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave Holbrook a new career-high. Jackson Ryan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Johnstown-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.

Circleville's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
