Baseball Game Preview: River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats vs. Orangeville Broncos

River Ridge/Scales Mound is a perfect 9-0 against Orangeville since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. River Ridge/Scales Mound will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

River Ridge/Scales Mound let Oregon stack five runs on them in the fourth inning on Saturday but luckily River Ridge/Scales Mound prevailed anyway. The Wildcats came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 10-7.

Damon Dittmar was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. River Ridge/Scales Mound is 4-1 when Dittmar posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Winter, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Orangeville fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Albany/Monticello on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Albany/Monticello by a score of 13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (11), the Broncos still had to take the loss.

Brian Dittmar and Kayden Pfieffer stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dittmar got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Pfieffer went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Matthew Soddy was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Orangeville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.

River Ridge/Scales Mound took their win against Orangeville in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
