Soccer Game Preview: Smith-Cotton vs. Rock Bridge

The Smith-Cotton Tigers will head out to face off against the Rock Bridge Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Smith-Cotton fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Pleasant Hill on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Roosters/Chicks by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Rock Bridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Glendale on Saturday. Given Rock Bridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Glendale are ranked 88th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rock Bridge is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those nine games. As for Smith-Cotton, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Smith-Cotton came up short against Rock Bridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
