Baseball Recap: Churubusco Comes Up Short

Churubusco and Westview squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Churubusco had to settle for second. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 15-5. The Eagles have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Brady Knott made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Churubusco is 3-1 when Knott posts two or more runs, but 6-17 otherwise. Drake Richards was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Churubusco's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Westview, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Churubusco does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westview, they will challenge Lakeland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 4, the Lakers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
