Freire Charter skates past Liguori Academy with ease

Recap: Freire Charter Dragon vs. Liguori Academy Falcons

The Freire Charter Dragon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They breezed by Liguori Academy on the road to the tune of 73-43. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-16.

Freire Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ibrahim Mahmoud led the charge by scoring 16 points along with three steals. Esa Moore was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Despite the loss, Liguori Academy saw an underclassman step up: Rydee Miller scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Naiem Scott-Allen, who scored 11 points.

Freire Charter has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Liguori Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freire Charter won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Belmont Charter at 3:15 p.m. on January 16th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Belmont Charter comes in on four and Freire Charter on five. Liguori Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Girard College at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
