Basketball Game Preview: Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs vs. Whitehall-Yearling Rams

Bloom-Carroll has gone 6-1 against Whitehall-Yearling recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Whitehall-Yearling Rams at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bloom-Carroll saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They strolled past St. Francis DeSales with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Bloom-Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Sorrell, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds. Sorrell is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Passen, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 17 points.

Bloom-Carroll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Whitehall-Yearling waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victor by a 59-39 margin over the Bulldogs. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Whitehall-Yearling's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points over those games. As for Bloom-Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.

Everything came up roses for Bloom-Carroll against Whitehall-Yearling when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 79-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bloom-Carroll since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
