Softball Recap: Itasca Comes Up Short

After flying high against Meridian last Tuesday, Itasca came back down to earth. The Wampus Cats lost 26-18 to the Italy Gladiators on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (15), the Wampus Cats still had to take the loss.

Itasca's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Italy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Itasca will take on Frost at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Polar Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.54 runs per game on average), something the Wampus Cats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Italy, they will welcome Rio Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Gladiators surely won't give up without a fight.
