Basketball Game Preview: Nova Titans vs. South Plantation Paladins

The Nova Titans will face off against the South Plantation Paladins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nova is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Nova is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Western on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Nova was dealt an 80-48 defeat at the hands of Western. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Wildcats are ranked 21st).

Meanwhile, South Plantation's and King's Academy's contest on Friday was close at halftime, but South Plantation turned on the heat in the second half with 43 points. South Plantation put the hurt on King's Academy with a sharp 65-39 win. The Paladins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.

South Plantation's win came from a few key players Nova will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Travis Chin, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 18 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Marc Vincent was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

South Plantation smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

South Plantation is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Nova, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Nova was dealt a bruising 64-18 defeat at the hands of South Plantation in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Nova, Jerrel Dailey (who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
