Softball Recap: Port St. Joe Comes Up Short

Port St. Joe has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.29 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Jay Royals, falling 11-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tiger Sharks have suffered since March 2, 2024.

Brooklyn Bishop was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Addy Silcox was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Even though they lost, Port St. Joe lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Port St. Joe's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Jay, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Port St. Joe will challenge Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jay, they have already played their next matchup, an 18-10 victory against Abbeville Christian Academy on the 7th.
