Baseball Recap: Southview Takes a Loss

Southview dropped their record down to 4-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets, falling 13-2. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellow Jackets from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Perrysburg, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

For Perrysburg's part, Andrew Charpie looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Charpie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Heitmeyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Mefferd, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Coming up, Southview will challenge Bryan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Perrysburg, they will take on Archbold at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
