Football Recap: Copper Basin Cougars vs. Grace Baptist Academy Golden Eagles
Copper Basin was the 35-21 winner over Grace Baptist Academy when they last played one another back in September of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Copper Basin Cougars were outmatched by the Grace Baptist Academy Golden Eagles at home and fell 41-6. The Cougars were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Copper Basin's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Cade Dean and his an interception.
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Clayton Gunther and his top target Andrew Huggins. Gunther threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes while Huggins picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Huggins got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 70 yards.
Copper Basin dropped their record down to 0-2 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Grace Baptist Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
