Recap: Coventry Comets vs. Streetsboro Rockets
The Coventry Comets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-7 loss at the hands of Streetsboro. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coventry in their matchups with Streetsboro: they've now lost six in a row.
Leading Streetsboro to victory were Cohen Klimak and Preston Hopperton. Klimak rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, while Hopperton gained 149 total yards and four touchdowns. Klimak was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Gibson, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Coventry's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Streetsboro, Cloverleaf, and Norton. As for Streetsboro, the victory was the sixth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Coventry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Streetsboro will be playing in front of their home fans against Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaver will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Streetsboro is ranked 137th).
