Basketball Recap: Rice Comes Up Short

Rice was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Maypearl Panthers, falling 55-11. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wennie Wharton was Rice's leading scorer, having posted four points.

Rice's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Maypearl, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Rice wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-33 defeat against Blooming Grove on the 17th. As for Maypearl, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-43 victory against Palmer on the 17th.
