Softball Recap: Episcopal School of Jacksonville Now 14-2 over Last 16 Games

It's playoff time, and Episcopal School of Jacksonville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Bolles Bulldogs 11-5 on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Riley Valent made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chelsea Dever was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Amelia Oreair, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Episcopal School of Jacksonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bolles only posted a batting average of .192.

Episcopal School of Jacksonville is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bolles, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

Looking ahead, Episcopal School of Jacksonville will face off against Providence School at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bolles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
