Basketball Game Preview: Rockmart Yellowjackets vs. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors

The Rockmart Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Rockmart is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Union County on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Rockmart took a blow against Union County, falling 58-27. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Panthers are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe). They really took it to North Murray for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-28 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Warriors just coasted through the last quarter.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Rockmart, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Rockmart came up short against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 53-42. Can Rockmart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
