Basketball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers

Southern Wells has gone a perfect 3-0 against Fort Wayne Canterbury recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southern Wells has four straight wins, Fort Wayne Canterbury has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Southern Wells will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Eastbrook, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Raiders breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 60-29 on Saturday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 31 points or more this season.

Southern Wells found their leader in sophomore Kaylee Davis, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for Davis. Another player making a difference was Kyah Thomas, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Southern Wells was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 53-11, which was the final score in Fort Wayne Canterbury's tilt against Lakewood Park Christian on Thursday. The contest marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Fort Wayne Canterbury's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Southern Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Southern Wells against Fort Wayne Canterbury in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-26 win. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
