Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ethan Briggs and Nicholas Doyle Lead Holland Patent to Victory

There's no place like home for Holland Patent, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 27-7 margin over the Adirondack Wildcats on Friday. With that win, the Golden Knights brought their scoring average up to 26 points per game.

A big part of Holland Patent's victory came down to the chemistry between Ethan Briggs and his top target Nicholas Doyle. Briggs threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns while Doyle gained 185 total yards and three touchdowns. Briggs also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

When it comes to explaining why Adirondack lost, don't look at Robert Weiler. Despite the final result, he rushed for 111 yards and one TD. An impressive showing, but Weiler really ramped things up playing D: he made 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Holland Patent moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Adirondack, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holland Patent will square off against Oneida at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Knights will be up against the Express' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Adirondack, they will take on Weedsport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
