Softball Recap: Liberty County Panthers vs. Brunswick Pirates
After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Liberty County was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Brunswick Pirates and snuck past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since October 2, 2023.
Mya Armstrong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Kayleigh Barnard was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Campbell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
The win got Liberty County back to even at 1-1-1. As for Brunswick, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bradwell Institute at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are at an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2016. As for Brunswick, they will venture away from home to square off against Brantley County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
