Baseball Recap: Hoffman Estates' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hoffman Estates can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Waukegan Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-2 back in April.

Tyler Dillon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Hoffman Estates is 3-1 when Dillon allows two or fewer earned runs, but 6-23 otherwise. Dillon was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colin Schoewe was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Niko Belesiotis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Hoffman Estates' win bumped their record up to 9-24. As for Waukegan, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-21.

Coming up, Hoffman Estates will welcome Libertyville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. Waukegan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
