Basketball Recap: Scottsbluff Piles Up the Points Against Gering

Scottsbluff won the last time they faced Gering and things went their way on Friday too. The Scottsbluff Bearcats blew past the Gering Bulldogs, posting a 73-39 victory. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Scottsbluff to victory were Tre Boswell and Nate Kelley. Boswell went 7 of 10 en route to 18 points and three steals, while Kelley almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists. The dominant performance also gave Kelley a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Dez Smith, who posted nine points and six boards.

The win (which was Scottsbluff's third in a row) raised their record to 14-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Gering, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Scottsbluff and Gering will both be playing Sidney the next time they take the court. Scottsbluff will head out to face Sidney at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Gering will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th.
