Softball Recap: Geneva Panthers vs. Dale County Warriors
Geneva had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Dale County Warriors, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in March.
As for Dale County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-10. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
For Dale County's part, Shayleigh Whitman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Whitman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leah Grace Snellgrove, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mah-Xariah Andrews, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
