Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Comes Up Short

Bloomfield lost against Neligh-Oakdale back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bloomfield Bees fell 59-47 to the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors. The Bees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Bloomfield lost, don't look at Madyson Mlady. Despite the final result, she posted 20 points and six rebounds. Mlady's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Eisenhauer, who had nine points.

Jaycee Gadeken continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Neligh-Oakdale, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Gadeken a new career-high in shooting accuracy (89%). Another player making a difference was Haddi Heckert, who put up nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Neligh-Oakdale, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will venture away from home to take on Creighton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomfield is facing Creighton at the right time seeing as Creighton is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Neligh-Oakdale, they will challenge Chambers/Wheeler Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neligh-Oakdale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
