Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Troy's Third in Last Four Outings

Troy won the last time they faced Towanda and things went their way on Friday too. The Trojans never let the Black Knights get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Camden Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Troy got a massive performance out of Lincoln Chimics, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Chimics also scored two runs, which is notable because the Trojans are undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brendan Gilliland, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Troy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Towanda, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

Troy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Canton on the 14th. As for Towanda, they have also already played their next match, a 7-0 loss against Athens on the 13th.
