Baseball Recap: Sierra Vista Comes Up Short

Sierra Vista lost against Duarte last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sierra Vista fell 7-2 to Duarte. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by exactly five runs.

Jesse Haro was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Raul Zelaya was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Zepeda, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sierra Vista has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. The victory (which was Duarte's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

While Sierra Vista had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
