Sunnyvale waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Canton Eagles 56-24. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Sunnyvale's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Canton is ranked 261st).

Sunnyvale's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Cross, who rushed for 189 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Those 189 rushing yards gave Cross a new career-high. Cayson Maupin was another key player, rushing for 66 yards and one score on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sunnyvale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in nine consecutive games.

Sunnyvale's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Canton, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 9-1.

Sunnyvale has already played their next matchup, a 49-41 victory against Van Alstyne on the 13th. As for Canton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-7 win against Caddo Mills on the 14th.
