Soccer Game Preview: Mattoon vs. Mt. Zion

Mattoon is 2-8 against Mt. Zion since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Greenwave will welcome the Braves at 6:30 p.m.

While Mattoon's win against Charleston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Greenwave beat the Trojans by a goal, winning 3-2. The victory continues a trend for Mattoon in their matchups with Charleston: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Mt. Zion was forced to settle for a draw. They and Jacksonville finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Mattoon's win bumped their record up to 14-8-2. Mt. Zion's draw gives them a new season record of 14-5-1.

Mattoon couldn't quite get it done against Mt. Zion when the teams last played on Saturday as they fell 2-0. Can the Greenwave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
